Bayview Secondary School
In Richmond Hill, Ontario there are 27 public elementary schools and 5 secondary schools serving the populous of the city in terms of children and young adult’s education. Out of these 5 secondary schools, Bayview secondary school is perhaps the most well-funded and the most well-known amongst those who grew up in the York region.

It offers the standard curriculum taught in a typical Ontario secondary school, which is watched over and regulated by the YRDSB, which stands for York-Region District School Board. As well, it also offers an internationally renowned program called the IB program only to those that live close to the school area. IB stands for International Baccalaureat, and is a program designed to promote both academic excellence as well as personal growth for young adults who enroll in it. Because of its limited spots and higher prestige, students are selected based on an entrance exam, grades over the course of their secondary education career, as well as a teacher’s recommendation when needed. Virtually all students who are enrolled in the program in bayview secondary school go on to enroll in universities later on in life. Popular university destinations of these students who were enrolled in the IB program include but not limited to the University of Toronto, university of waterloo, western university, Queens University etc. Bayview secondary school prides itself on the quality of its academic education as well as its athleticism. Besides academics, students from the school also engages in a wide variety of sports such as volley ball, soccer and basketball. Teams are divided into junior or senior for a category of sport based on their age, those who are in grade 9 and grade 10 are considered to be in the junior team of a sport. While those who are in grade 11 and grade 12 are considered seniors. The motto of the school is “friends learning together”, which is reflective of the bonds both a world class education system and an athletic school environment can create!
