ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY

General Principle of Acupuncture according to Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture Therapy is the traditional ancient Chinese medicinal practice where an acupuncturist uses a thin needle to heal the body of any imbalances in yin and yang to treat a variety of symptoms. It originated from the traditional Chinese medicinal theory that when yin is deficient or excess of yang or when yang is deficient or excess of yin, imbalances occurs. For instance, if you have experience dizziness due to excess yang in your liver originated from the deficiency of yin in your kidney, the best way to treat it is to supplement the yin in your kidney while suppressing the yang in your liver. In simpler terms, to heal the body is to restore yin and yang to an equilibrium throughout your body by supplementing energy where it’s in deficiency and supressing energy where it’s in excess.
Over the millennium, acupuncture has proven to be one of the most effective way of treating the body for a wide range of symptoms. These symptoms can include but are not limited to:
  • Headache
  • Neck pain
  • Knee pain
  • Back pain
  • Ankle pain

They have undergone tremendous amounts of formal education and amassed extensive clinical experiences to ensure that you are fully looked after for the symptoms you experience. In fact, all of our acupuncturists have studied acupuncture in school both in China as well as in Canada, and have practiced acupuncture therapy for over a decade in Ontario. We use only the best equipment available on the market to supplement the quality of our service. All of our one time use acupuncture needles are made from medical grade stainless steel. Additionally, our bedding are thoroughly washed every time after each patient to ensure the most sanitary acupuncture experience possible.

An Exceptional Acupuncture Therapy Experience
Here at our Richmond hill acupuncture and massage clinic, not only do we provide exceptional acupuncture treatments for our patients, we also believe in exceptional patient care. When you first enter our doors, we would like you to describe to us the symptoms you have been experiencing to get a clearer picture. Unlike most other places where you may have to wait around until you are looked after by a doctor, we book appointments with all our patients ahead of time to minimize waiting time. If this is your first time visiting our clinic, we would like you to fill in a form outlining your symptoms and any pre-existing conditions we may not know about. This is to ensure that we do not give you the wrong expectation as well to avoid any approaches which may cause damage to your health. Only after we have determined that your condition can be remedied by acupuncture treatments, we will then proceed with a treatment plan and the appropriate treatments to take.

Your First Acupuncture Therapy Session
During your first treatment session, our acupuncturist will politely ask you to lie down on a padded examination table and make sure that you feel comfortable. He/She will then gently insert acupuncture needles into specific meridian points on your body to restore yin/yang equilibrium based on symptoms you have described earlier. We will use as little amount of pressure as necessary to avoiding any discomfort while ensuring the treatment remains effective. Most patients experience no sensation of needles at all as the treatment continues for 15 to 60 min depending on the severity and the requirement of treating your symptoms. After the needles have done their job, they are then removed in a painless manner by the acupuncturist. The patient is then left alone to dress up if needed, and are then followed up by the acupuncturist in his/her office to further discuss things to look out for and things to avoid in the future. With every one of our acupuncture sessions, we aim to help our patients with their ailments as much as possible both during a treatment session and afterwards. Because we believe, maintaining good health is a habit.
